It’s time to adopt Pratt the Rat as the new mascot for Pratt Institute!

The current mascot, the Connoneer, is an obsolete reference to 16th century
military gunners.  Clearly, this does not embrace the mission and practices of
Pratt Institute.

The true colors of Pratt Institute are represented by Pratt the Rat.

Pratt Institute claims its mission is to create “responsible contributors to society;”
but
Pratt itself displays rat-like tendencies by allowing the exploitation
of construction workers at 524 Myrtle Avenue.

524 Myrtle Avenue is a new, $50 million administration building being built by
contractors with a
sordid history of grievously dangerous working conditions.
This history includes
unsafe* excavation at 524 Myrtle Avenue that was so
egregious, the Department of Buildings issued a Stop Work Order in
December 2008.

Students of Pratt pay an ever-increasing tuition.  Their money should not support
worker exploitation.  President Thomas F. Schutte does not do justice to his
students or Pratt Institute's long history by misusing money this way.

Until President Schutte stops this exploitation on Pratt’s campus,
Pratt the Rat
reigns as mascot!

Pratt the Rat and bring back the true spirit of Pratt
Institute by
